Land Capability Manager

Demand for our products and services are increasing in the Land domain and we’re looking for someone to help deliver these in the UK and internationally.   

As our Land Capability Manager, you will manage and deliver a range of exciting and innovative training and experimentation projects.  To be successful in this role you will need strong leadership skills, broad experience, creativity and curiosity, as well as excellent communication and collaboration skills to be able to work with and influence colleagues and stakeholders. Your mature, imaginative approach to problem solving will enable you to work with analysts from a wide range of disciplines (combat, human performance, statistics, etc) as well as data and software engineers to ensure that solutions and outputs remain customer (frontline) focused.

Cervus is a performance analytics company based in the Southwest, with an office in central Bristol and Porton Down, Wiltshire. We embrace hybrid working and the role will be office based typically 1-2 days a week but you will be required to travel depending on contract and customer demands. 

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the planning and execution process for our projects, leveraging your leadership acumen to dissect customer requirements, collaborate seamlessly across teams, and meet project timelines, ensuring delivery at the high standards our customers expect. 

  • Foster cooperation and collaboration by effectively engaging with stakeholders at all levels. Through attentive listening and clear communication, ensure active participation and valuable input, driving towards optimal outcomes.

  • Represent and campaign for continuous improvement and innovation in our products on behalf of our current and future customers. Understand the longstanding problems that our customers face (which might be known or unknown) and create solutions which can be integrated into our product maps.   

We expect you to have the following:

  • Relevant military experience in the British Army or Royal Marines, ideally including staff jobs in the following areas: 

  • Experimentation 

  • Force Development 

  • Collective training 

  • Individual training 

  • Brigade or Divisional staff 

  • Excellent IT skills and an appetite to understand and utilise new and advancing technology. 

  • Experience as a user or consumer of analytics with an ability to interpret them and find insights. 

  • Appropriate security clearances, or ability to obtain them.  

  • A sense of humour.  

 

We’d love you to have or be familiar with:

  • Experience of working internationally. 

  • Commanded at Subunit or higher and Combat or Combat Support Arms experience. 

  • Commercial experience. 

  • Documented project and programme management skills, preferably with certification. 

  • A UK Driving Licence

Salary:

Salary depending on experience (plus excellent benefits*).
