Gareth Vaughan Joins Cervus as Managing Director to Lead Next Stage of Growth
Gareth Vaughan is an experienced business director with a career that, distinctively, combines experience of successful business scale up in SME defence organisations that deliver analytics, simulation and and training and mission/business critical software products and engineering solutions. Gareth started his career as a software developer working in defence training and simulation before moving into project and business management roles.
At Techmodal Ltd, Gareth served as Managing Director, where he played a pivotal role in growing the founder owned company into a leading data science consultancy. Under his leadership, Techmodal expanded its capabilities, secured high-profile contracts with the UK Ministry of Defence, and became a trusted partner in delivering advanced analytics and digital transformation solutions. His tenure culminated in the successful sale of Techmodal to BAE Systems, marking a significant milestone in the company’s growth journey.
As Managing Director of Overwatch Aerospace, Gareth led the scale-up of a military UAV start-up. He successfully established new facilities, product development teams and processes, as well as normalising and enhanced client relations, ultimately enabling the company to rapidly expand its operations and deliver state-of-the-art unmanned aerial systems to defence clients.
At SEA (Systems Engineering & Assessment), Gareth demonstrated his ability to lead complex projects and drive business growth. His contributions included leading the company’s Information Systems, Simulation and Training division’s delivery of product and consultancy, as well as supporting critical defence and transport programmes elsewhere in the business.
Gareth’s career is defined by his ability to blend technical expertise with strategic leadership, making him a driving force behind the success of the organisations he has been a part of. His technical background and ability to navigate complex transactions to deliver value for owners and shareholders alike is a key part of his offering.
