Revolutionising Marksmanship Training: Cervus and Guardiaris Collaborate for Austrian MOD

Cervus Announces Collaboration with Guardiaris for Austrian MOD Training Project

Cervus is proud to announce its collaboration with Guardiaris on an 18-month project for the Austrian Ministry of Defence (MOD). This joint initiative is set to revolutionise the Bundesheer’s approach to marksmanship training, harnessing cutting-edge technology and advanced analytics to deliver a seamless, data-driven, and transformative training solution.

A New Era of Training

Building on a strong history of conceptual collaboration, this project marks the next step in performance-focused, data-enabled training innovation. The partnership will integrate Cervus’ Xcalibr through-life data platform with Guardiaris’ Small Arms Tactical Trainer (SATT) and Small Arms Mobile Trainer (SAMT). By combining high-fidelity simulation with live-fire capabilities, the project will deliver a comprehensive and connected training solution.

Together, we are developing a training ecosystem that empowers Austrian forces to perform at their best. The vision is to provide the Austrian MOD with a state-of-the-art system that bridges simulation and live-fire exercises while capturing actionable insights at individual, team, and squad levels. This ambitious approach establishes a new industry standard.

Central to this vision is the concept of the “golden data thread,” a groundbreaking methodology that ensures all training activities—whether virtual or live—are interconnected. This approach enables continuous measurement, evaluation, and optimisation. The integration of wearable human performance technologies further enhances this system, enabling detailed analysis of cognitive load, stress levels, and physical performance. These insights are critical for understanding how soldiers perform under pressure and for optimising their readiness for real-world challenges.

Cutting-Edge Synergy

At the heart of this project is the synergy between Cervus’ Xcalibr platform and Guardiaris’ simulation systems, SATT and SAMT. Cervus’ Xcalibr is renowned for its ability to manage, analyse, and visualise live-fire training data, offering a holistic, data-informed perspective on training performance. Paired with Guardiaris’ high-fidelity simulation systems, this integration forms the foundation of a transformative training programme.

This collaboration ensures that every aspect of training is connected and data-driven, delivering a complete view of progress and ensuring measurable results.

Driving Innovation Through Collaboration

The Austrian MOD’s vision for training spans the Live-Virtual-Constructive (LVC) spectrum, with a clear focus on advancing combat marksmanship and teamwork. This project goes beyond technological collaboration—it provides a glimpse into the future of defence training. By integrating simulation, live-fire exercises, and advanced analytics, it sets a new benchmark for performance-focused and progressive training.

Cervus is committed to innovation and excellence in defence training. We are excited to see how this pioneering programme will shape the future of Austrian defence forces and reinforce their operational readiness.
