Cervus Defence and Security Ltd, today announces the tenth anniversary of the company’s setting sail as data pirates.
It started out as an idea, but the founders and crew set out to challenge the defence market and change the way that data was used to make judgements and decisions.
Cervus was formed in April 2013, by Alan Roan (Managing Director), Chris Baddeley (Operations Director) and Paddy Little (Technical Director). The founders were driven to create Cervus as a result of frustration at the lack of use of objective data during training and experimentation in Defence. Since then, they have created a suite of Analysis as a Service (AaaS) offerings. Initially providing these services to the UK MoD, Cervus now boasts many international customers and a satellite office in the Netherlands.
“Cervus has undergone a tremendous transformation since we started all those years ago. We were essentially ‘men in sheds’ undertaking complex analysis, using spreadsheets. That has accelerated, through our analytics engine, HIVE, into a modern approach to data analysis at the edge. Wherever training or experimentation is happening, we can capture the hard-to-get data and analyse it in real time. This enables our Frontline customers, to rapidly learn and adapt and modernise the training process.”

Did you know that seventy percent of business fail in the first 10 years.
In celebration of embarking on its second decade of business, Cervus will be holding a number of celebrations throughout the year. The founders hope that customers, partners and shipmates will join Cervus during these events and mark this success as reaching the the 30%ers.
